They aren't. Japanese games are crazy expensive. Just different titles are expensive there than the titles here. Shootem ups in Japan are by far more expensive for the most part. Games like marios and big name Nintendo games are cheaper cause they sold so many and there isn't a huge resurgence of young kids getting into the "cool" retro scene.
My gut feeling is that US and Japan sockets are different. So research it before you buy. They're not, at least not substantially. Half of Japan is on 50hz AC, while the rest is 60hz, but the plug shape is nigh-identical and voltage is close enough to be cross-compatible. Hayato213 11 months ago #10.

Yes. Hey I am also from Brazil and our currency is not that good, so you should be OK buying from other regions. What I like to do is look up the game and pay what I believe the developer deserves for it, stardew valley I bought in Brazilian store and would even buy in the American one because the dev really deserves it, while other games I will just buy on a sale being the cheaper option.
